Carving with kids safely

Kids draw the lid, scoop the seeds and poke the stencil outline onto the pumpkin with a pin. An adult does the cutting.
Use a small serrated pumpkin saw, not a kitchen knife: it cuts slowly and is much less likely to slip.
Light it with an LED tea light instead of a candle.
Smaller kids can skip carving altogether: tape the stencil on and colour the black areas with a marker or paint.

What makes a stencil easy to carve?

Few, large black areas, thick white bridges between them and no tiny details. That is what the Easy difficulty asks the AI to draw, and the print page adds any missing bridges.

Is it free?

Which designs do kids like most?

Friendly ghosts, smiling jack-o’-lantern faces, bats, owls and cats. You can also upload a photo of the family pet.

Can I make a stencil of a cartoon character?

No. Famous characters and brands are protected, so the generator only makes original designs. Describe the kind of character instead, like “a friendly monster with one big eye”.
